Meet our President

Harnessing his great passion for advocacy and the legislative and political processes, Mike founded Confluence Washington Strategies in 2020 to partner with and guide folks in unraveling healthcare policy. Examples of Mike’s three-plus decades of healthcare lobbying and advocacy expertise include:

• Serving as a member of senior management teams, successfully led legislative, regulatory and political activities at two major medical specialty organizations.

• Advocated for the creation of a national commission, which identified over one hundred key opportunities in digestive diseases research.

• Led a comprehensive advocacy campaign to compel the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to make substantial changes to the way the agency assigns reimbursement values to medical codes.

• Established two political action committees (PACs) and raised over $7 million dollars; developed contribution strategies to ensure funds were distributed to gain maximum visibility and impact for each organization.

Mike received his B.A. in Political Science from Michigan State University. He and his wife, Laura, have two adult sons and enjoy traveling and many outdoor activities. Mike loves music and is an avid reader.
